Learning Resources and Information Center of Polytechnic College of Davao del Sur
With its rich source of books and journals, the fully air-conditioned PCDS Library serves as the intellectual and creative center of academic life at the college. It is central to students' learning and hence its recsources must be protected to ensure continual availability to the whole college community.
The library has adopted the open system thus all library resources and facilities are readily available to its users. It is administered and supervised by a competent professional librarians. A student is entitled to use the library facilities subject to existing library rules and regulation. A library card is issued upon payment and presentation of a registration slip and 2x2 ID pictures. Only bonafide students with library cards are allowed to use the library, borrow materials, use the computers and other equipment.
Regular Semester
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m - Monday to Friday
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 n.n - Saturday
Policy and Guidelines Upon Entrance/Exit
- Users should leave their baggage and other things such as laptop bags, hats and caps, and envelopes at the Baggage Counter and bring with them their corresponding Baggage Claim Number.
- Users should wear their complete uniform with valid school ID upon entering the LRC. During non-uniform days, proper dress code must be observed.
- Users should fill up the Log-book provided at the entrance area their name, course, date and signature. This is how we determine how many users the LRC are serving every day.
- Upon going outm users should present themselves for inspection LRC materials that are brought out are properly borrowed at the Reserved Area.
- Leaving deposited items overnight is not allowed. Users should claim/get their deposited items at the Baggage Counter every time they go out of the LRC. No baggage Claim Number, no releasing of deposited items. Therefore, student are advised to keep their Claim Numbers with utmost care.
- In case of loss of Claim Number, users should write a notification letter to the librarian and pay the corresponding amount to the Finance Office and then Present the receipt to the Librarian.
General Rules and Regulations
- Silence must be observed at all times. Idle conversation, loud noise must be avoided
- Cellular phones should be set on a silent/vibrate mode when inside the LRC. Calls must be answered/entertained outside the LRC.
- Users should use headphones when watching videos from there laptops and other personal gadgets, However, watching pornographic videos/movies are strictly not allowed.
- Handle library equipment and other materials with care and push back chairs silently after use
- Bringing of beverage, eating, smoking, sleeping is strictly prohibited inside the LRC.
- Users must sit properly. Disarranging of chairs and public display of affection must be avoided.
- Vandalism is strictly prohibited such as writing on books, defacing any library materials, furniture and other library equipment.
Policy and Guidelines on the Use of Borrowers ID
- All bonafide users are required to secure the ID beofre the can borrow books in the LRC.
- Releasing of Borrowers Id must be done at the Reserved section, users are required to present their Registrartion form and submit 1x1 ID picture.
- Id is not transferrable and is good during your entire stay of the school. However, it must be presented during the signing of clearance and likewise present for validation every beginning of the semester.
- LRC ID must be surrender upon signing of clearance for graduation or upon leaving the school.
- In case of loss, a letter of explaination to the librarian.
Policy and Guidelines Upon Borrowing/Returning of Books
- Students are allowed to borrow books in the LRC. it must be done at the Reserved Section.
- Borrowed books should be returned on due date to avoid payment of fines.
- Fines should be paid at the Finance Office, just present the receipt to the Librarry staff.
- All borrowed materials must be returned during the signing of clearance
Virtual Library
Policy and Guidelines on the Use of the Internet in Virtual Library
- Only bonafide student of Polytechnic College of Davao del Sur, Inc. are allowed to use the school's Virtual Laboratory.
- Students' access to the Internet is 15 hours per semester.
- Strctly one user for one computer unit only
- The Internet facility is intended mainly for research. However, provisions for e-mail have been made.
- Saving of documents/files downloaded from the Internet is allowed provided that he user save it to his/her own removable disk.
- Internet users shall be held responsible for the units assigned to them. Any damage to the unit or any loss of accessories shal be charged accordingly.
- The following categories of offenses and corresponding sanctions:
- a. Minor Offenses:
- - littering
- - playing computer games
- - loitering
- Sanctions:
- For the first offense, the students shall be required to make a promissory note.
- - For the secont offense, the student shall be referred to the Office of the Student Affairs(OSA) for appropriate disciplinary action.
- b. Major Offenses:
- - Modifying computer settings
- - Viewing pornographic web page
- - Engaging in cyber sex
- - Security hacking
- - Vandalism
- Sanctions:
- The student shall be referred immediately to the (OSA) for appropriate disciplinary action.
